Spurs release defender

North London club Tottenham have allowed defender Reto Ziegler to join Serie A club Sampdoria on loan for the rest of the current campaign.

Ziegler, 21, has only made four appearances for Spurs this season and the club believed he would benefit from this mid-season move.

The Swiss youngster has previously had loan stints at both Hamburg and Wigan.
