Pardew still optimisticCharlton manager Alan Pardew thinks his Charlton team can still avoid relegation from the Premiership despite losing 4-1 to Blackburn on Saturday.
"The score line did not reflect the game but events conspired against us," said Pardew.
"The second half was a much more even contest until a mistake from Scott Carson, who is probably our player of the season.
"We lost a man – Ben (Thatcher) did not need to make that challenge - but refused to lie down and got a goal back.
"I genuinely sensed we could win the game but the goals we let in today were more consistent with goals we conceded earlier in the season. That was disappointing."
He added: "We still have a chance of getting out of it (Relegation). There will be some twists and turns,"
"The result from Wigan's game with West Ham has almost helped us I think. We have to be thankful for that.
"But I am not going to bother to work out how many points we might need.
"We are going to be playing on a Monday after everyone else, so we will have good idea by then what is wanted."
