Roeder: I’ve told himNewcastle manager Glenn Roeder has urged Albert Luque to prove his worth for Newcastle this season.
Yet Roeder warned: "People might say Albert is playing for his future because of his first season and because he was such an expensive buy.
"But this season Albert will be judged purely on his performance — I don’t judge them on how much they cost or where they came from.
"I’ve told him it’s a clean start for everybody, not just Albert. It’s up to him to claim a place in the team."
Geordie star Nolberto Solano added: "Albert wants to stay and do his bit.
"He has changed his shirt number and I hope he will do better.
"We haven’t got Alan Shearer up front any more so we need someone."
