Can CSKA create history?CSKA Moscow is aiming to be only the second Russian club to advance to a European cup final on Thursday and the first ever Russian side to win a European competition should they progress.
CSKA has the home advantage following a 0-0 first-leg draw and was given the week off to prepare for a Parma side more worried about domestic relegation than making the UEFA Cup final.
Sporting Lisbon travels to Dutch club AZ Alkmaar in the other semifinal second leg. Lisbon has a 2-1 first-leg lead and the incentive of playing the May 18 final in its Jose Alvalade Stadium. Neither club has won the UEFA Cup, although AZ lost the 1981 final to Ipswich.
