Brazilian star finedAfter the former Brazil striker accused coach Horst Koeppel of not telling the truth, Borussia Monchengladbach has fined Giovane Elber 7,000 pounds and warned him about his future conduct.
Elber said in a newspaper interview that Koeppel had told him he was not playing in last weekend's Bundesliga match at Hertha Berlin for tactical reasons, only to then go and tell reporters he was unfit.
Gladbach's sporting director Peter Pander said: "I made it clear to all the players before the start of the season that public comments about fellow players, staff or the club will not be accepted and will have consequences,
"Elber has not abided by that and has been fined."
