Argentine Apertura Preview - Round 14South American pundit Dan Horlock takes a look at all the Argentine Apertura fixtures in this week's preview.
Boca Juniors are on the road again, as Ricardo LaVolpe’s side meet fourth placed Arsenal in a key game at the top. River Plate will need all three points when they take on San Lorenzo in the ‘Monumental’ while Estudiantes travel to Velez, as the three, joint league leaders, all face difficult opposition in week 14 of the Apertura.
In other fixtures, Racing play a Central side that arrive in high spirits after their 4–1 win over arch rivals Newell’s Old Boys, who themselves will be looking to make amends for that defeat by overcoming Independiente in Rosario.
Friday night’s match pits Argentinos against fellow strugglers Banfield, who have slipped to nineteenth in the table, Gimnasia (LP) visit Chicago, Lanus face Godoy Cruz, Gimnasia (J) host Colon and bottom club Quilmes desperately need a victory, as they welcome a Belgrano side that are without a win in three.
