Blues linked with Atletico swoopBirmingham City are reportedly close to signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Peter Luccin.
Blues manager Steve Bruce said: "We are close to one or two things. I hope by Monday we will have something done.
"We went for two midfielders in the summer. We chased Flamini for weeks and then he decided to stay with Arsenal.
"The other one was Ghaly and we all know what happened with him. The guy we hope to bring in we hope will all be done and dusted by Monday. The player we are after has got a really good pedigree.
"We have agreed his wages, a fee and the length of contract. I'd love to have a young British midfielder but you can't get them for whatever reason."
