Villa midfielder moves onAston Villa midfielder Mathieu Berson has joined Auxerre on loan for the rest of the season.
Villa manager David O'Leary told his club's official website: "It's a good move for everybody. I've got a good football player who wants to go back to play in France. It's a good move for him, it just brings me down again in midfield.
"The boy's a good football player, but the English league is a different way and the French play in a different way again."
He continued: "I think it's probably the wrong location for him and to go back into playing the French style of play is right for him.
"I'm happy for the boy. He was a nice boy and I wish him well. I think they'll look at a permanent deal at the end of the season.
"I don't know whether his people think that if they get him back into France and he does well, there could be other French clubs interested as well. So they didn't want to commit - maybe he might get a bigger move if he performs."
