Will Bowyer move South?Newcastle boss Graeme Souness has confirmed that Lee Bowyer is eager to move south, but claims he has no desire to see the midfielder leave Newcastle.
Newcastle have a myriad of midfield options and Bowyer could find it tough to force his way past the likes of Emre and Scott Parker when he returns to full fitness.
Rumours suggest he could be lured away from St James' Park in the January transfer window, with Aston Villa said to be keeping tabs on the situation on Tyneside.
Souness claims he is not looking to offload Bowyer, but admits the player has one eye on events in the South of the country.
Souness told Sky Sports News: "Lee Bowyer is part of our squad,
"We don't want to lose him as he is an important member of our squad.
"There is no secret Lee would like to get further south eventually to be nearer his family but that is not an agenda from our part.
"We see him as an important part of our squad."
