Vieira talks of Cole disappointmentFormer Arsenal skipper Patrick Vieira thinks Ashley Cole made a mistake when he decided to join London rivals Chelsea from the Gunners.
He said: “I’m really disappointed that Ashley left. I thought he should be the Paolo Maldini of Arsenal, going through the generations.
“I was disappointed a way could not be found for him to stay. Ashley should have been an Arsenal legend.”
He added: “It’s true I didn’t stay but I was a different case. Ashley had been at Arsenal since he was very young.
“I remember opening up the match programme and seeing Ashley lifting the youth cup. That is why I was sorry to see Ashley leave Arsenal.
“You cannot say whether it has worked for him. The future will tell us that.”
