Spurs veteran urges improvementDutch midfielder Edgar Davids has told his Tottenham team-mates to lift their performances or expect a long season.
He said: “We have to help each other in this situation and we have to grow up very quickly.
“It’s a whole new adventure we are going on this season and everyone has to step up to another level.
“That is the challenge for all of us — it’s the same for the young players and the older ones.
“It is not a disaster because we’ve only played three matches but we do need to start putting on more of a show.
“Last year was difficult but it has been even harder this season because opponents see us as a big scalp for them and they know all about our strengths.
“They know they are taking on a very different Spurs to the one of previous years. We are now a top team and it means we are there to be attacked.”
