Spurs star wants timeNew Tottenham signing Danny Murphy insists has asked for time to settle at the club.
Speaking to Sky Murphy said: "I think we were looking to bounce back after last week's last minute goal up at Sunderland, which was a bit deflating,"
"But it wasn't meant to be.
"Credit to Wigan, though, I think they stopped us playing, played some good football themselves and showed today why they are doing so well in The Premiership.
"I think they've surprised a lot of people but, on today's performance, you can see why, so credit to them but we are disappointed. We felt it was an opportunity for us to get three points on board and we didn't do it.
"I think it's the stage of the season where results are a little bit more important than performances. We still want to play good football, it's what the fans expect and we expect off each other but we didn't quite click.
"Wigan closed us down well and dropped an extra man into midfield. They closed us down and forced us to go a little bit long ball, maybe, but that's going to happen and we're going to have to combat that, although we didn't quite manage it today.
"I didn't get on the ball as much as I'd have liked," he complained. "Of course it's going to take a while, I haven't played for six or seven weeks.
"That's not an excuse but it's going to take a while to find my feet, get my team-mates' movement in my mind and vice versa, and the formation that we play - where I'm going to fit into that.
"It'll take a few games. I'm not naive enough to think you can walk straight in and be on top form but I really enjoyed it as it's been a long time coming.
"The fans were great for me that was nice because it settled a few nerves. I look forward to the forthcoming games because they're the type of games you want to play in - pressure games.
"I think, when you're playing in a side with quality players, it's not that relevant where you play, because the way we play football, you're going to get on the ball whichever position in midfield you play - left, right or centre.
"I'm not too worried about where I play, just worried about getting a shirt to get on the pitch in the first place, so I'll play anywhere."
