Southgate remains optimisticMiddlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate is confident that the club will land a couple of new signings before the new season kicks off this month.
Speaking at the conclusion of Boro’s 2-0 defeat against Dutch club Feyenoord Southgate said: "I'm having to learn quickly. Today highlighted a number of things we have to get right before the start of the season,"
"Nothing has changed about who we want to bring in and I will be working hard to make the signings I want.
"I am reasonably optimistic we will make some progress this week. Transfer negotiations take a long time. If I remember correctly, one of my moves as a player took over 12 months to complete."
