Richards: Joey deserves itEngland starlet Micah Richards thinks his Manchester City team-mate Joey Barton deserves a call up to the England squad.
Richards, 18, said: “Joey deserves it. His performances have shown what he can do so fingers crossed he can get in.
“The hard bit is staying in. So he could get in and stay in and I could drop out. But hopefully we can both get in and stay there for a long time.”
On his own hopes of retaining his spot in the team, he added: “I play against these players week in and week out now and feel a part of it. So hopefully, when the team is announced, I’ll be back in.
“I feel I have done enough to stay in. But if I don’t get the shout I’ll just keep working and then maybe I will be picked the next time.”
