Petrov eager to show

Aston Villa playmaker Stilian Petrov is looking to regain his top form and show the fans of the club what he can offer them.

He told The Mirror: "I knew Villa wouldn't be like Celtic and I wouldn't win every game as the Premiership is much harder than the Scottish Premier League,"

"There are better teams, more quality players and the pace of the game is a little faster here but I know what I'm capable of. I can do much better and that will come."

He added: "Aston Villa fans and everyone at the club believe in Martin O'Neill, but they realise it may take him a bit of time to get a really good team here,"

"The manager will build a strong side here eventually though and I'm happy to play for him because I know what he can do and what he is capable of.

"He just says the right words at the right moment and he sees everything - he doesn't miss a thing. That's what the players are aware of, so everyone tries to do their job right to make sure there won't be complaints.

"He is also a man of his word and an honest guy which is important in football and I have never heard a bad word about him."
