Pearce dismisses reportsManchester City manager Stuart Pearce has dismissed any reports linking star full-back with a move to Chelsea in January.
The City boss said: "We've had no contact with Chelsea, the only contact we've had with Chelsea is us ringing them about their players coming here,"
He added: "I'm delighted that we have interest in our players, if that is the case. Absolutely delighted because that means our players are doing well," added Pearce.
"We are not in the situation we were two years ago with Shauny that we had to sell - we're not in that situation now. Players will only leave if it's of benefit to the football club, full stop.
"At the time when Shauny left we were on the ropes a bit financially. The chairman and one or two others looked at Shaun and said if he wanted to leave the club it was a good time to receive money - that's not the case anymore.
"They left the decision with me and it's my responsibility. If you ask me what the squad needs at the moment it probably needs players coming in - and top players coming in to join it."
