Mutu: Mourinho is not maliciousSacked Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu insists he is indebted to the Jose Mourinho for putting him back on the straight and narrow and that he harbours no grudge against the Chelsea boss for sacking him.
Mutu says that Mourinho had promised to give him a fair crack of the whip at the start of the season, before the Portuguese mentor was forced to show him the exit door after discovering that the striker had a drug problem.
But after cleaning up his act, Mutu believes by sacking him Mourinho was not acting out of malice, but simply practicing tough love.
He told Sky Sport Italia: "I don't think he wanted to harm me,
"At the start of the season I asked him if he was counting on me and he said he was. He wouldn't have changed his mind after two months.
"I think he wanted to put me on the right path and maybe he has done.
"I'm more mature now. After all that has happened I know now what counts in life, private life and professional life.
"I am stronger now. I want to play football. I know that what happened was my fault alone. I am not looking for excuses because I don't want to repeat my mistakes. I feel much more at ease with myself now."
