Leverkusen legend has no futureAfter a legal wrangle soured relations between player and management, Bayer Leverkusen have told stalwart defender Jens Nowotny that he has no future at the club.
Nowotny, has been crippled by injury in recent years, and recently lost a court case against the club over sick pay.
The former club captain took his employers to court over their refusal to pay him six months pay instead of the legal minimum of six weeks since he injured a knee last February.
An official Leverkusen statement read: "Because of the complaints brought by Jens Nowotny and his advisory group GTS there is no bond of trust any more. Jens will no longer play for Bayer Leverkusen or take part in team meetings."
Caretaker coach and director of football Rudi Völler told news agency SID: "It's a shame, but in the last month too much porcelain has been broken."
"Nowotny will be allowed to train and recover at the club, but his future now seems uncertain."
