Jewell alerted to Boro striker availability

Wigan Athletic boss Paul Jewell has been alerted to the availability of Middlesbrough striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Hasselbaink's future on Teesside is in doubt after dropping down the striker's queue in Boro boss Steve McClaren's plans.

The Independent says Latics boss Paul Jewell will move for the Dutchman if given any encouragement by Boro leading up to the winter market.
