Hamann slams horror tackleLiverpool midfielder Didi Hamann has slammed Chelsea hatchet-man Michael Essien for a knee-high tackle in last night's Euro crunch at Stamford Bridge.
Kop star Hamann stormed: "I really feared I might have broken my leg. It was the worst tackle and caught me just below the knee. The referee apparently did not see it so you have to get on with it. The ref didn't give a red card and his assistants and the fourth official did not see it."
The brutal challenge, right in front of the dugouts, left Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez furious and triggered a heated clash between the two sets of backroom staff.
Hamann's Kop team-mate Jamie Carragher said: "It wasn't a great tackle but you just have to get on with things."
Chelsea attacking midfielder Eidur Gudjohnsen added: "I didn't see it so I can't really comment but I can tell you I was caught too. It evens itself out. There were not too many yellow cards. It was tough but fair, both giving out and receiving tackles."
