Carragher happy with signingLiverpool rock Jamie Carragher thinks the big money capture of striker Fernando Torres shows that the club are ready to financially compete with both Chelsea and Manchester United.
"If other teams are spending double what you are spending on players they have an advantage on you," he said.
"Hopefully the players that we're looking to buy now are maybe in that bracket of £15-20million.
"If we want to bridge that gap we have to go in at the top end of the market."
On the signing itself, he added: "You have a great pedigree there. He is a young lad, very quick, which is good for the Premiership and hopefully he will do very well."
